An application will not be considered to be complete
until the following procedures have been handled
satisfactorily and all appropriate documents have
been received by the admissions office. No decision
regarding admission will be made until the application
is complete.
- One copy of the official transcript, indicating
all coursework attempted and grade designations
given, from each college, university, or seminary
attended
- If a conferred degree, signifying satisfactory
completion of a degree program, is not noted upon
the official transcript, a certified copy of the
diploma must be sent to the admissions office.
- Five letters of recommendation from persons
designated as ¡°well qualified¡± to testify to the
applicant's capability for graduate work are included
in the application materials.
- The applicant must secure a statement of endorsement
from an official (bishop, general secretary, etc.)
Of his or her native ecclesiastical body. This
letter should be sent directly to the Admissions
office by the official. It should affirm the ecclesiastical
body's support for the applicant's pursuit of
theological studies in the U.S. and additionally
affirm that the ecclesiastical body will accept
the student into active ministry under its jurisdiction
following the student's study in this country.
- Any document submitted in support of an application
that is in a language other than English must
be accompanied by a certified translation of the
document.
- For international students applying for the
M.Div. or M.C.M degrees, scores for the test of
English as a foreign language (TOEFL) and the
test of spoken English (TSE) must be sent directly
to the admissions office of the Divinity School
by the educational testing service (our TOEFL
code number is 5156). For M.T.S. applicants and
Th.M.. Students, only the TOEFL is required. These
scores must not be more than two years old. Personal
or photocopies are not acceptable. An international
applicant who is awarded a degree from a regionally
accredited college or university in the United
States may be allowed to waive these tests.
- The Divinity School requires a TOEFL score of
at least 580 on the paper-based test or 237 on
the computer-based test, and at least 50 on the
TSE. However, TOEFL and TSE scores could be waived
if a degree program has been completed in the
USA and academic references from faculty in the
U.S. degree program attest to mastery of the English
language. For information regarding TOEFL testing
centers and test dates, contact the nearest U.S.
consulate, or write to the educational testing
service, Princeton, New Jersey 18541 (USA), and
request a bulletin and registration materials.
