* Application Procedure Please see the application section at the end of the catalog for specific instructions and required application materials.
Trinity uses a rolling admissions process for all master¡¯s level applicants. Students may begin their studies during any term. We strongly encourage applying 6 to 12 months in advance of the expected enrollment date, but at least before the following deadlines:
July 15—for Fall semester admission November 15—for Spring semester admission April 1—for Summer term admission
Applications received after these deadlines may be subject to a $20 late application fee.
Upon admission to Trinity, a student should submit a tuition deposit to the Admissions Office to reserve his or her place in the school. This deposit is credited toward the first term¡¯s tuition and is refundable. (See Application Instructions for further information on refunds.)
If denied admission, any candidate may send a letter of appeal to the Admissions Committee. Such appeals must be received no later than ninety (90) days following the date of the Admissions Committee decision.
International Students
Trinity is authorized under Federal laws to enroll non-immigrant alien students. In addition to the regular application materials, international applicants must submit the following:
Scores from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) if English is not the applicant¡¯s primary language of instruction. Applicants should obtain a minimum score of 550 (paper test) or 213 (computer test) for the Visiting Student, Special Student, and Certificate in Biblical Studies. The minimum test scores for the Master of Divinity, Master of Arts, Master of Arts in Religion, Master of Theology, and Doctor of Ministry programs are 580 (paper test) or 237 (computer test). MDiv applicants must also submit a minimum Test of Spoken English (TSE) score of 50. MA and ThM applicants must additionally submit the results of the Test of Written English (TWE) (now automatically given with the computer test) with a minimum score of 4.5. Doctor of Philosophy applicants must submit minimum TOEFL scores of 600 (paper test) or 250 (computer test) along with a minimum TWE scores of 4.5 and a minimum TSE score of 50. Waivers are not normally granted from these requirements. However, if a waiver is authorized, many applicants would then become subject to the same standardized testing requirements as their native English speaking counterparts, required to submit qualifying scores from either the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) or Miller Analogies Test (MAT). Applicants should weigh this prospect carefully before requesting a waiver from the TOEFL, and allow sufficient time to take the test if necessary.
The Certification of Finances (COF) indicating applicant¡¯s financial resources and/or the available financial support from family or other financial guarantors.
All students required to take the TOEFL will also be required to take an English Proficiency Exam at Trinity during Orientation week at the beginning of a semester. Those who do not receive a passing score will be required to take the course __110 Critical Reading and Writing Skills. This course will enhance a student¡¯s academic achievement and is recommended for all who need additional English language proficiency
