에모리 대학은 1863년에 조지아 주 Oxford에서 개교해서 1915년에 대학교 인가를 받고 현재 위치로 이전했다. 미국의 주요 도시인 애틀랜타 북동쪽의 634에이커 규모 캠퍼스에 위치한 대학은 붉은 지붕과 대리석 벽면을 갖춘 이탈리아 르네상스 양식으로 건축되었으며 활발한 지적 활동의 요람이 되고 있다. 재학생은 15,451명으로 그 가운데 8,079명이 학부생이다. 에모리 대학의 B.A.와 B.S. 프로그램은 세미나와 작문, 자연과 수학과학, 사회과학, 인문학, 역사적/문화적/국제적 시각, 건강과 체육 등의 6개 분야에 걸친 교양 과정을 필수로 하고 있다.
학생은 교양 과정과 함께 최소 1개의 전공 분야를 집중적으로 이수해야 하며, 졸업까지 총 132학점을 이수해야 한다. 학기는 8월에서 5월까지 2학기로 되어 있으며, 여름학기가 일부 실시된다. 우등 프로그램, 개인 연구, 인턴쉽, 학위 결합 프로그램과 대학원 수강 등의 다양한 특수 프로그램도 있다.
에모리 대학의 5개 도서관은 총 310만 권의 장서를 소장하고 있으며 수천 종의 디지털 자료도 보유하고 있다. 4천만 달러 규모의 Math and Science Center에는 물리학과, 수학과, 컴퓨터과학과와 환경학과가 입주해 있다. 90,000평방피트 규모의 Donna and Marvin Schwarz Center for Perorming Arts는 에모리의 음악, 연극, 무용 과정의 중심으로 세계 수준의 연주홀, 연극 연구실과 무용 스튜디오를 갖추고 있다. 학부생에게는 4년간 주거가 보장되며, 1-2학년생은 의무적으로 교내에 거주한다. 교내에 거주하는 학생의 비율은 70퍼센트에 달한다. 기숙사의 Emory ResNet은 교내 전역과 연결되어 인터넷 서비스를 제공한다. 각 방에는 케이블 TV와 전화도 제공된다.
