1837년에 설립된 데이빗슨 칼리지는 미국 유수의 학부과정 대학으로 꼽힌다. 학교의 재학생은 약 1,843명이다. 노스캐롤라이나의 주요 도시인 샬럿에서 19마일 북쪽의 데이빗슨에 위치한 대학은 665에이커 규모의 캠퍼스로 이루어져 있다.
데이빗슨은 209 전공에 걸쳐 850가지 이상의 과정을 제공하고 있고, 특별 다학제 과정도 있다. 졸업까지 총 32개 과정을 이수해야 하며, 학생은 미술, 자연과학/수학, 철학/종교, 문학, 역사와 사회과학 등 6개 분야에 걸친 핵심 커리큘럼을 이수하게 된다. 2학년 말에는 전공을 선택하게 되는데, 전공당 과정은 평균 12개다. 데이빗슨은 15주 단위의 2학기제를 채택하고 있다.
교내의 E. H. Little 도서관은 50만권에 달하는 장서를 보유하고 있고, 온라인으로 5,000종 이상의 학술지와 데이터베이스를 열람할 수 있다.
